We want you to learn all you can. Be informed and be in control of your diabetes. All our programs are free to the public, thanks to the donations of generous individuals, memorials and area businesses.

Muskegon Area D.E.S., Inc. provides:

* An informational Web-site regarding diabetes and what is available in this area to help you manage your health care. Make sure you checkout all the links. This web site is a clearinghouse of information.

* Quarterly 10 page educational newsletter which you can receive through regular mail, email, or on this website.

* Quarterly educational support group meetings. Each meeting has a speaker and informational booths relating to the topic of the event, health screenings, some refreshment and even a door prize. This is a time to learn and meet with others. What better way to empower yourself with the knowledge needed to stay as healthy as you can.

* Monthly walking at the Lakes Mall get-together. Bring a friend. Currently looking at every 2nd Monday of the month at 8:00am.  Hopefully you will meet others and be encouraged to walk more often. Education is so important in the management of diabetes. Stay informed and be in charge. Good diabetes management is a team effort. This team should include your primary physician &/or endocrinologist, dietitian, certified diabetes educator, ophthalmologist, podiatrist, dentist, pharmacist, maybe even a counselor and definitely a support group. You are the most important member of your health care team.

We believe you deserve to be given all the information you need to make the best choices, ask the necessary questions and work with your health care team to make the best decisions in your care. Being in control of your diabetes, and managing it’s daily challenges makes you feel good about yourself. When you feel good physically and emotionally, it makes it easier to maintain your new healthy lifestyle.

Remember: Information on this Web site is not a substitute for your own doctor’s advice. Education and communication with your health care team are excellent health care tools.
